A buddy cop movie with a zombie twist, where the one-liners and plot don’t provide much satisfaction, the special effects make up for it.
While LAPD detectives Roger and Doug are investigating a spree of crime committed by the dead criminals, Roger is killed. He is brought back to life by a resurrecting machine used by these criminals.
I don’t have much to say about this one really, the plot is absolutely bonkers and has no real bearing on the film whatsoever. The acting is average, with no real standouts expect for a welcome yet underwhelming cameo from Vincent Price.
The only reason to watch this film is for the special effects which are actually really good! There is a scene in which a Chinese buffet is “resurrected”, and the two cops are assaulted by a barrage of undead chickens, zombie duck heads, a greasy rotting pig and a headless cow carcass which tries to swallow the lead with its open rib cage. Yes, that is as amazing as it sounds. Another scene involves a melting woman, as she ages rapidly and the deterioration of her body happens in the span of about 2 minutes – some great stuff.
A good film to stick on in the background or watch with a few friends and some cold ones.
